AppleWorks and iWork users living in the Continental U.S. can now get special low rates on long distance calls from Enhanced Communications Group (ECG). Under this special AWUG®/iWUG® program, state-to-state calls cost only 2.5¢ per minute**; in-state toll calls range from a low of 3.1¢ per minute (in Illinois) to 16.1¢ per minute (in New Mexico). These rates are available with regular "1+" dialing - you do not need to dial any codes or calling card numbers.
All calls are billed in 6 second increments with an 18 second minimum - that further reduces the costs of your calls, especially calls answered by voice mail or answering machines. (Most long distance companies bill in one minute increments, which increases the cost of all your calls.)

If you prefer to enroll by phone, call ECG at (888) 869-1141 and indicate you are a new customer. If you call ECG, you must specify agent "AUG" and request the "Easy 2.5¢" per minute rate to qualify for your AWUG®/iWUG® discount.
Your local telephone company may impose a one-time change fee of $5-$10 per line. This is the only cost you will incur when you change to ECG's service.

AWUG®/iWUG® will receive a small commission from ECG for services used by our associates. Normally, AWUG®/iWUG® does not accept payments from vendors who provide discounts for our associates. However, we will accept this payment because we could not negotiate lower rates by declining ECG's offer to contribute to AWUG®/iWUG®. We will use these funds to buy necessary equipment and to maintain AWUG®'s/iWUG®'s web site.

† Plus a $1 per month service fee and a 59¢ per month Regulatory Recovery Fee per account (not per line). Multi-line businesses will also be charged a $3.50 per line monthly "PICC" fee, which is a pass-through of the fee that local telephone companies charge long distance carriers to recoup some of their costs. Individuals and single-line businesses do not pay this fee.
