InDesign conversion

Can an Appleworks file with photography,graphics and text be converted into an Adobe InDesign file? All of the printers I have contacted have not been able to work with my Appleworks files to prepare them for a quality press run. If I can't find a solution, I'm going to have to start from scratch in InDesign - please help me!
