Clipboard translates to garbage

Currently am using AW 6.2.1 Windows version with XP Home Edition latest upgrades on a fairly new Dell PC.

When I copy and paste from other Windows applications to a field in AW database, it translates to garbage in the AppleWorks.

BUT When I copy and past from AW to another Windows-based file, it works fine.

Any suggestions??
