Why couldn't we pull an Andy Dufresne?

Like Andy Dufresne in "Shawshank Redemption" , why couldn't we who adore AppleWorks write short letters to Mr. Jobs, asking him to please reconsider Apple's abandonment of AppleWorks - say two or three times a week for however long it might take. (Andy sent a letter every week to the prison authorities for 6 years before he was successful. Perhaps we could do it in less time.) I think it should be post office communications for the simple reason that there would have to be physical activity to get rid of our pleas. I know that some trees might be lost in the process but we are trying to save something very dear to us and I know stamps cost money, too. I further believe that Apple is missing a very important and profitable bet by casting off from AppleWorks. I know not about you, but the thought of how grand AppleWorks could be if the brilliant minds that came up with the iPod and iTelephone would use their brilliance in composing an OS X version of this wonderful and worthy application fills me with melancholy. Of course, iAppleWorks might be too many syllables...
