Repeating formula

Postby hrytlr » Fri Dec 14, 2007 10:15 pm

Years ago I used a formula in a spreadsheet which has worked well for me.
I am now trying to rewrite for a new MAC and can't remember how I did it.
Here is a simplified problem:
C1 is going to be the product of A1 times B1.
Easy enough! But without entering that each time, how do I get C20 to show the product of A20 times B20?
There is a method to allow repeating operations through dragging across the range but I can't figure out how!
Any help would be appreciated.

Enter in C1: =A1*B1

Select C1..C20

Go Calculate > Fill Down

OR:

Select C1..C20

Type =A1*B1

Press command-D (to Fill Down).

Barry

PS: The computer is a Mac or a Macintosh. MAC is an acronym for (among other thngs) Media Access Control. Your Mac's MAC Address is the machine's unique hardware address, used to identify the machine on a network. You can find yours using Syatem Profiler.

Thanks! That was the little piece of info I was forgetting.
My current "MAC" is an iMac 600 MHz G3 running
OS X v10.3.9.
Upgrading to a new MacBook 10.5

Again, thank you very much for your help.
