File Names are Garbled

Having problems saving files and file names.

1. Saving files. When I am finished working on one project, save the file, then rename it to do a similar project -- it doesn't save the NEW FILE. The new project changes names, but the content is the same as the previous one. (In otherwords,I've lost all the work on the second project.) Dang--I hope that makes sense!

2. Open files on the desktop have a garbled name at the top -- i.e., New Project Christmas will become something like: New Pro#FC8404.cwk.

I have dumped the recent items and auto save...still have both problems. So, I figured I'd dump the preferences. Geezerpete, in the old OS 9...I could find this stuff in my sleep.

So, here's my solution:
User> myaccount> library> preferences> appleworks.

I need to know if that is the place to dump (I get sooo confused)!

Also, I think I need to dump a plist -- but haven't a clue where I can find that.

I guess I should have said -- SAVE AS.


HOWEVER, I dumped the Appleworks preferences and the "Save As" problem seems to be solved.

I will still take help about the plist--should it also be dumped? Where is it!!

And--the garbled text on files---I'm still working on that as well.

The plist is in the Preferences folder where you found the AppleWorks folder with the other preferences.
