How to convert old Applescripts to run on Mac OSX Lion?

Presently I am using an old iMac G4 computer which is running Mac OSX 10.3.9 Panther and have written many Applescripts which produce textile patterns. I am thinking about upgrading my computer to one of the latest iMacs and have been trying find out if my old Scripts will run satisfactorily on Lion, so far without much success. There would appear to be a lack of easily accessible guidance on a question like this.

I should be grateful if anyone can give me some information on the following:-

1. Assuming that the old Scripts are not compatible with Lion is there any means of converting them by means of a program/compiler or would they all have to be rewritten?

2. Any suggestions on how best to approach this problem will be much appreciated.

Kind regards,

David Gurney

There used to be a separate AppleScript forum on Apple Discussions but it doesn't look like that forum made the transition to the new forums. I suggest asking in the AppleWorks forum. There is a French user, Yvan Koenig, who is very knowledgeable about both AppleWorks & AppleScript. If I see your question posted there & Yvan doesn't reply within a day or so, I will e-mail him & ask him to look at your post.

There are also forums at MacScripter.
