My new 24" iMac came with Leopard pre-installed. When I try to install AW 6 from the old CD, the dialog box tells me that it is not possible. Any suggestions?

Welcome to the AWUG forum
It seems that your AppleWorks 6 CD only has an OS 9 installer. You will need to find a Mac that can run Classic to install it on, update it to AppleWorks 6.2.4 or 6.2.9, burn the whole AppleWorks 6 folder to a CD & copy it to your new iMac. Or you can buy a newer AppleWorks 6 CD.
