Working with time in Numbers

Postby donkeyotay » Wed Sep 12, 2007 1:18 am

Morning All,
I would like to track my work hours. Ideally, I would like a start & stop time; break time giving a total number of hours for the day. I would also like a running total of hours worked for the year.
Can anyone point me in the right direction please?

Time calculations can make for seemingly formidable windmills!

The main problem with calculating elapsed time is that the Mac considers Time and Date to be parts of the same number, and regards all Date or Time entries as elapsed time in days and fractions of days since January 1, 1904.

Although I'm not familiar with the functions used in Numbers, the principals of time calculation are probably similar to those in AppleWorks. You'll find a discussion of time calculations in a spreadsheet in this pair of posts from about two years ago in the AppleWorks Help forum.

Repost if you have further questions.

Regards,
Barry
